We are excited to share that Celeste, Maria, and Uta completed the “Cue with Confidence” workshop at Lucky Dog Yoga on Saturday, Feb. 7!
Offered and taught by 4yoga’s co-founder, Angie Jones, PhD, E-RYT 500, YACEP, “Cue with Confidence” focused on helping yoga teacher to refine the wording, structure, and delivery of cues in a way that better supports students. Topics included cueing brainstorming exercises, key features of effective cues, language choices, and how to apply each when planning or facilitating a yoga class.
Celeste, Maria, and Uta found the topics discussed to be informative and helpful in enhancing their teaching skills. Maria and Uta both commented on the usefulness of the word party exercise where teachers brainstorm words that connect to a class plan. Uta noted how it assists with developing language that connects alignment cues to the emphasis or theme of the class. Celeste expressed how “the discussion on different language choices while cueing was extremely helpful” and noted how important it is to also pay attention to verbal and non-verbal cues students give teachers.
In addition to learning about cueing, Celeste, Maria, and Uta appreciated the environment and structure of the workshop. Uta noted how the workshop “was very informative, interactive, and in a safe and supportive environment”. Maria reflected on the structure that “Angie provided an optimal environment for learning by structuring the workshop to be a mix of discussion, handouts, and exercises.”
