As we begin the month of October, a month where transition from summer to fall is tangible, our 4yoga community will be transitioning to a new physical space, upstairs at The Pots Place, 428 East Main Street. We are grateful to Kathy Wise-Leonard for so generously sharing her space at Dance Images with us during this past year; to Kathie Downs, new owner of The Pots Place, for inviting us to move our practice to this location; and to all of our students who share our enthusiasm. We plan to continue what we have built together and look forward to exciting new opportunities that may be possible.
In reflecting upon this time of transition, we notice that we’re always in some part of the transition process throughout our lives. With each inhale and exhale, from birth to death, we flow from endings to new beginnings. Our yoga practice can help us to become better at negotiating transitions as we practice non-attachment; we learn not to cling onto what is ending, to acknowledge the feelings of insecurity, and to trust that the new beginning will come and be just right for us.
With this transition in location comes the opportunity to reinstate the evening flow classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. In addition, for students who would like to begin or refresh their yoga practice with a beginners’ series, a 5-week beginner class will begin on Tuesday, October 23. We also welcome Kathie Downs to our teaching staff: she will be teaching one of the 9:30 a.m. weekday gentle classes. Please see the list below for October highlights and the full schedule on the Class Calendar section of this site (https://4yoga.me/calendar).
Please note that both classes on Sunday, September 30, are cancelled due to the rehearsal of The Nutcracker at Dance Images and our move to The Pots Place.
October class changes and special events:
- Saturday, 10/13: basics class time changed to 10:00 a.m. due to the Medical Center 10K race.
- Sunday, 10/14: 9:00 a.m. flow cancelled.
- Thursday, 10/18: yin class at 5:30 p.m. (moved from Friday, 10/19, due to WKU Homecoming on Friday).
- Friday, 10/26: discussion and meditation at 6:45 p.m.following the 5:30 p.m. yin class (no charge, everyone welcome).
Although 4yoga is changing locations, we are delighted to be able to continue to offer all classes for a fee of $5. If you have any questions or feedback for us, feel free to leave a comment here on the blog or to talk to one of us before or after class.
We will send an email on Sunday, September 30, with some additional details about how we will operate at The Pots Place, and we look forward to seeing you there soon.
