August (2020) schedule: in-person and online class options and Zoom chats!

As we continue our pause from in-studio classes, we also continue to look for ways to keep serving our community.  We appreciate your enthusiasm for our two recent in-person classes at the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport, and we have heard your requests for additional opportunities to practice both in person and in an outdoor setting.  Here is our lineup for August!

Saturday 9 a.m. Basics classes:  two weekly choices.  Ten of our August yoga classes will occur on Saturdays, as indicated on the attached PDF file.  In fact, we will offer two different 9 a.m. Basics classes on Saturdays:  one streaming on Facebook Live and another in person and socially distanced at the airport.  In case of inclement weather, we will cancel the in-person class no later than 8 a.m. and host only the streamed class that morning.  If you plan to attend in-person classes, please see the end of this post.

Thursday 7 p.m. Basics classes.  On two Thursdays in August, we will offer 7 p.m. outdoor, socially distanced classes.  We look forward to welcoming those of you who would like an evening practice to join Heather on Aug. 6 and Susan on Aug. 20.  Please see the end of this post for details about preparing for and attending in-person classes.

Monthly meditation class.  Because the Zoom platform works well for the monthly meditation class, Alice will continue to host that meeting via Zoom.  August’s session will take place on Sat., Aug. 22, at 11 a.m.—see its Facebook event page for more information, to indicate your interest, and to find the Zoom link.

Wednesday Zoom chats.  We are happy to announce opportunities to chat via Zoom with two of 4yoga’s four founders in August!  Erica Jacknin will be joining us on Wed., Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.  Erica is looking forward to reconnecting with folks she knows from 4yoga’s early days, to meeting new members of our community, and to updating us on what she’s doing in New Mexico.  For people who miss having coffee together after a morning class, Angie will welcome folks to a Zoom gathering on Wed., Aug. 5, at 11 a.m.  We hope you can drop in for one or both of these sessions, each of which will last 40 minutes.

Book club voting.  Finally, as we look ahead to September, we need your help selecting the book for our next book club meeting!  Take a look at the three submitted choices and cast your vote here before Fri., Aug. 7, at 11:59 p.m.  (If you have ideas for future book club discussions, please add them, too!)  We will announce the book with the most votes shortly after that deadline, and we will host the meeting itself on Sun., Sept. 20, at 1 p.m.

We look forward to connecting with you—whether in person, via Facebook Live, or via Zoom—in August!

Attending an in-person class?

Please follow these instructions.  If you have any questions, just send an email to 4yoga.me@gmail.com or a message on our Facebook page.

  1. Complete the online waiver form if you have not already done so.  (You need only complete it once, not for each individual class.  If you forget to do it before class, the teacher will have a QR code for you to scan when you arrive.)
  2. Check our Facebook page or online schedule one hour before class if weather is questionable.  We will update in both places if we need to cancel class.
  3. Bring or wear these items:  mask, mat and any props, water, sunscreen.
  4. Arrive at least 10 minutes before class begins to give yourself time to set up.
  5. Follow the teacher’s guidance to place your mat.  She will mark socially distanced spaces for participants’ mats.
  6. Leave your mask on until you settle on your mat and mask up again when you leave your mat at the end of the practice.

Location:  Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport, 1000 Woodhurst Drive.

Class fee:  donations gratefully accepted.  August donations, whether mailed to the studio or contributed at in-person classes, will be distributed among those who teach during the month, with a portion (the equivalent of one class) reserved for future studio expenses.  Our teachers have been generously sharing their talents without regularly collecting class fees since March 16, and we are experimenting with this compensation model for August.
