Welcome July: yoga classes, meditation workshop, new intro class!

As we move into July, we are excited to share the new month’s schedule, featuring 33 regular yoga classes and a meditation workshop.  We look forward to seeing you at the studio (for yoga classes) or on Zoom (for the meditation workshop)—or perhaps even both ways!

To join us for yoga classes, just drop in when your schedule allows.  If you are in town for the Independence Day holiday, we hope you can join us for a class! If you’re traveling this weekend, though, we look forward to seeing you later in the month.

In addition to our regularly scheduled classes, we are also excited to announce a new, more flexible, option for a private or semi-private introduction to yoga, provided at the time and date you select!  Read more here or start the scheduling process by completing this brief form.

July also provides another meditation workshop with guest teacher Danny Brewington!  Although this workshop is part of a series exploring the chakras individually, it is also a standalone experience—everyone is welcome, whether you are brand new to meditation, are beginning to develop a meditation practice, or have been meditating for years.

About the workshop:  If disease is the result of an “imbalance,” then healing is the act of restoring balance. When our hearts are open and balanced, our very presence radiates love and joy. This love is the essence of true healing.

To open our hearts, we must transcend ego and our self-defined boundaries; only then can we merge into the ecstasy of love. In this class, we’ll look into the heart of the matter: the fourth chakra—the gateway between our humanity and our divinity. At the heart chakra level of consciousness, we can see how all things are unified by the power of love.

Join us as we continue the journey through the chakras and on the path to enlightenment.

About Danny Brewington: Danny is a Tennessee native who discovered meditation in 1987. Now, with over 30 years of study and practice, he enjoys great powers of concentration, breathing control, and expanded awareness. His understanding of meditation comes from a combination of philosophies, technologies, and life experiences. He hopes to inspire others to transform their lives with the power of meditation.

To register:  complete this brief form to sign up!  (Pre-registration and pre-payment is necessary to receive the Zoom link for this workshop.)

For the full July studio schedule, please see the calendar.

Public health: to practice ahimsa (non-harming), we continue to welcome vaccinated folks to in-studio classes.  Following current CDC guidance, masks are optional; however, please note that Warren County’s COVID-19 community level has increased from low to medium.  Therefore, teachers and students may be more likely to choose to mask.  (Data current as of June 29.)

Workshop description
The Earth and all its inhabitants are made possible by the life-giving energy of our sun. This is “agni”—the fire responsible for the combustion of stars. This is also the power of Manipura, our third chakra.

In the third chakra, we become aware of thoughts and images and experience “mind” which creates a sense of “self.” This awakens the need to determine our own reality—to create our own destiny.  This chakra activates the will to change by overcoming inertia and breaking old patterns.

Join us as we continue the journey through the chakras and the path to enlightenment.

Winter appears lifeless, cold. But Life is there—invisible and dormant—waiting for the right moment in time, when conditions are appropriate, to manifest. Nature’s creativity springs forth anew each year.

This is the realm of the second chakra. Our consciousness moves from the feeling of unity we experienced in the root chakra, and we begin to move out and relate to the world, using our senses as our guide.

We are asked to let go and flow. We experience relationship—and with relationship, desire emerges, along with our emotions and sexuality.

Join us as we continue the journey through the chakras and the path to enlightenment.

Public health update: To practice ahimsa (non-harming), we welcome vaccinated folks to in-person studio classes.  To continue to follow current CDC guidance, we have updated our mask policy:  while Warren County remains at the Medium community level for Covid, masks are recommended but no longer required.

To allow folks beyond Bowling Green to attend, we will host the workshop on Zoom.

Is it truly possible to have a “new year” when we are holding onto all the old content of our lives? In 2022, our meditation practice will focus on the storehouses of all this unprocessed material: the chakras.

In this workshop series, we will experience the nuances of each chakra, and we’ll clear and ground these energy centers. The January session works with the root chakra and our senses of physical security, mental security, and well-being.

Begin 2022 with yoga or meditation: January schedule with 34 studio classes

It feels like much longer than a month ago that we last sent a message to share an upcoming schedule, and 2021 is not concluding as any of us in south-central Kentucky had expected. However, we hope this message finds you and your family safe and able to take some time to rest during the holiday season.

As the calendar turns to 2022, we know that the citizens of Bowling Green and surrounding areas will have a great deal of work ahead to clean up from and, eventually, rebuild after the December 11 tornadoes. We also know that the limbs of yoga—including asana or physical poses, pranayama or breath exercises, and meditation—can help support us as we do that work. Therefore, we invite you to join us in January, whether for ongoing yoga classes at the studio, a free Intro to Yoga session at the studio, or a meditation workshop on Zoom.

Special events:

  • Intro to Yoga Class. If you would benefit from either an introduction or a re-introduction to yoga, join Angie for a free, one-hour class on Sat., Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. Register for that session here.
  • Meditation Made Easy Workshop. Whether you are curious about meditation, have already begun meditating, or are looking to expand your meditation practice, we invite you to participate in January’s Zoom meditation workshop. To join Danny Brewington of Nashville on Sat., Jan. 22, at 11 a.m., please sign up no later than Thurs., Jan. 20. See below for a fuller description of the workshop’s focus.
  • Yin Classes. To return this introspective style of yoga to the schedule, Angie and Leslie are pleased each to offer one class on a Friday at 5:30 p.m.

To continue to practice ahimsa (non-harming) in our community, we welcome vaccinated folks to in-person studio classes, and we wear masks while in the building. We know schedules are often in flux; therefore, all of our regular classes are drop-in (no registration required). Click here for a complete copy of the January schedule.

We wish you a smooth start to the new year and look forward to practicing with you in 2022.

By request, Sunday-afternoon classes continue in December, alternating between Basics classes and classes that begin with a Basics practice and conclude with extended relaxation in Restorative poses.  We also offer these three special opportunities to gather:
